We recommend that you apply the film in the evening in order to use the device as little as possible afterwards. For a proper and permanent bond, avoid putting the device in any pockets for 8 hours.

Preparation

Before installation, clean the work area and prepare the items in the installation kit: film, gel, scraper, microfiber cloth, instructions and the device in question. It is very important to apply the film in an environment free from dust, smoke, lint or other impurities.

Clean hands

For a successful installation, hands, especially finger tips, must be clean, and the device wiped with Alien Cleaner. When you open the Alien Cleaner, keep it folded to avoid it drying. After removing grease with Alien Cleaner, finish cleaning the device using Alien Microfiber and make sure that no impurity remains on the device.

Step 3

Apply gel to fingers and peel off film

Apply Alien Gel to your fingers to avoid leaving fingerprints on the sticky side of the film then peel the film that you want to apply off its backing.

More gel

Spray Alien Gel on the sticky side of the film from a distance of 5 to 7 cm. Use your finger to spread the gel evenly on the entire sticky surface. Thanks to the gel, this side will become non-tacky for 5 minutes. Identify the cut-outs, remove them and keep them on the backing as you will need some of them later.

Apply and reapply

Place the film sticky side downwards on the device. Thanks to the gel, it will slide easily and you will be able to position it at equal distances from the edges. The cut-outs in the film must overlap the elements of the device. Use them as a guide!

If the film does not slide easily, pick it up and reapply gel to the sticky side. Not perfectly aligned? You can repeat this step up to 7 times.

Do not proceed to step 6 until you have positioned the film perfectly.

Step 6

Remove gel and bubbles

Dampen the Alien Squeegee scraper with Alien Gel to make it slide over the film more smoothly and thus avoid stretching or moving it. Remove the gel and air bubbles with the scraper, from the centre towards the edges.

Microfiber cloth

Wipe the excess gel off the device with the Alien Microfiber from the center outwards, paying attention to the edges of the film, where lint can stick.

Curved edges

Use the palm of your hand to press each portion of the film against the curved edge for 5 seconds, until it bonds. If the film does not adhere to some sections, wait 10 minutes and repeat the process.

The film for corners, if present, must be applied last, without gel.

A little patience

After applying the film, use the device as little as possible and do not put it in your pocket for 8 hours, which is the time required for the film to bond properly. Bubbles of liquid and small imperfections left after the application will disappear in 24 to 48 hours.

If you use a case, put the phone back in it 48 hours after applying the film.

Be careful!

For best results, wash your hands before you begin the process. Make sure that your work area and the device are clean and free from impurities.

For the Alien Surface™ film to look impeccable once applied, the most important factors are centering and alignment. Check the page dedicated to your device on our website www.aliensurface.ro as many models display information on the coverage area. Before proceeding with the installation, identify each piece of film so you know where it fits.

Did something go wrong? You can try up to 7 times!

If you failed to apply the film, all is not lost! You can remove the film and reapply it, but be sure to do so within 10 minutes! Gently lift up a corner of the film being careful not to lengthen it. Spray Alien Gel and reapply the film.

If some dirt got stuck under the film, peel off only that particular portion, remove the impurities (with a wet finger) from both the surface of the gadget and the portion of film peeled off, and reapply the film. That section will become sticky in 15 to 20 minutes.

How to remove the film?

Peel off one of the corners and pull the film at an angle of no more than 40 degrees to the surface where it is fixed (avoid rolling it up) so that no sticky residue remains on it. When you peel it off, be especially careful when you reach the aluminum surfaces (if your devices has them), because the film sticks to them very well.

If you are in a hurry

You can speed up the bonding process on the curved edges by using a hair dryer to blow COLD AIR towards the respective area.

What do I do if the film is stuck at the corners?

The film for the corners must be applied last, without gel.

How much time do I have to wait after the Alien Surface™ film is applied until I can peel it off and reapply it?

No more than 10 minutes. If you need to remove the film from the device to reapply it, keep your fingers moist and peel the film off carefully (to avoid stretching it). It can then can be reapplied to the device following the usual steps.

What do I do if, over time, the film peels off a small surface accidentally, in one corner?

Use a finger soaked in Alien Gel to clean the impurities off both the surface and the portion of film which has come unstuck then reapply the film. That section will become sticky in 15 to 20 minutes.
